Elks Drug Awareness Poster Contest

The Elks Drug Awareness Poster Contest aims to engage and educate the youth about the dangers of drug use, empowering them to make informed choices and promoting a drug-free lifestyle.


As leaders dedicated to the well-being of our communities, we have the opportunity to inspire and engage our youth in meaningful dialogue about drug awareness through the power of creativity. The Elks Drug Awareness Program Poster Contest is not just an art competition; it's a platform for our young members to visually express their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle. We call upon you to champion this initiative, to encourage participation, and to showcase the talents and convictions of our students.

Participation Rules

  • Eligible Participants: Students in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade.
  • Poster Specifications: Standard (8 1/2 x 11 inches) to Large (11 x 24 inches). Lodges may have specific criteria; please confirm locally.

Judging Criteria

Posters will be judged on:

  • Relevance to the contest theme.
  • Neatness and visual appeal.
  • Creativity and originality.
  • Proper use of grammar, as applicable.

Submission Details

On the back of each poster, please ensure the inclusion of:

  • Student's full name.
  • School, location, and grade.
  • Name of the sponsoring Elks Lodge.
  • A signed Hold Harmless Agreement.

Originality is key. Posters featuring copyrighted characters or content will be disqualified.

Contest Timeline

Deadlines and specific submission processes are available by contacting the local Elks Lodge or State Association. National deadline is April 1st.

Advancement and Ownership

  • Local Recognition: Winners chosen by lodges will be notified accordingly.
  • Progression: Winners advance from District to State Level Competitions.
  • Rights: All submitted posters become the property of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and will not be returned.

National Recognition

State Drug Awareness Chairpersons will nominate one poster for national honors. The top poster may be featured in the National Elks Contest, the Elks DAP Coloring Book, the Elks Kids Zone Website, and/or ENF or DAP publications.

We entrust you with the role of guiding our youth to be beacons of hope and advocates for drug-free living. Your active engagement is crucial in elevating the reach and impact of this contest.
