Ambassadors Guide
Making an Impact
Ambassadors are passionate advocates for the Elks Drug Awareness Program (DAP), using their voice, influence, and expertise to promote drug awareness and prevention. They may or may not be Elks members, but they all share a common goal: to educate, inspire, and mobilize communities in the fight against substance abuse.
Unlike State, District, or Lodge Chairs—who work within the Elks leadership structure—Ambassadors have flexibility in how they contribute. They engage in public speaking, media outreach, community advocacy, and partnerships, helping to expand the program’s reach beyond Elks lodges.
Where Ambassadors Fit in the Structure
Ambassadors enhance the program’s visibility and impact by working alongside Elks leadership and the broader community:
- National Directors – Oversee the program and provide strategic direction.
- State Chairs – Lead state-level efforts and coordinate with District Chairs.
- District Chairs – Support and mentor Lodge Chairs.
- Lodge Chairs – Execute outreach and education efforts at the local level.
- Ambassadors – Serve as public-facing representatives, using their influence and platforms to spread awareness and expand community engagement.
How Ambassadors Make a Difference

- Represent the Elks Drug Awareness Program at events, schools, community forums, and media outlets.
- Advocate for drug prevention education through social media, public speaking, and professional networks.
- Support legislation and policies that promote substance abuse prevention.
2. Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Connect with schools, youth organizations, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and civic groups to strengthen drug awareness efforts.
- Help organize events and initiatives, such as anti-drug rallies, educational workshops, and media campaigns.
- Act as a liaison between the Elks DAP and the broader community, helping to introduce the program to new audiences.
3. Specialized Contributions
Ambassadors leverage their unique skills and backgrounds to support the program in different ways:
- Educators may develop drug prevention curriculum for schools.
- Healthcare professionals can provide expert insight on addiction and prevention strategies.
- Artists, musicians, and athletes can use their platforms to inspire young people to make smart, drug-free choices.
- Business leaders and community influencers can provide sponsorships, funding, or event space for outreach programs.
- Marketing, content creation, and design experts can help develop impactful campaigns, social media outreach, and educational materials to spread the program’s message effectively.

Ambassadors play a key role in shaping the public conversation around substance abuse prevention. Whether through speaking engagements, mentorship, or media outreach, they help break the stigma of addiction and promote a culture of awareness and resilience.
