State Chairs Guide

Making an Impact

State Chairs play a pivotal role in the Elks Drug Awareness Program (DAP) by transforming national initiatives into meaningful local action. Sitting at the state level, they act as the bridge between the National Directors and District & Lodge Chairs, ensuring that the program’s goals are effectively carried out statewide.

Their leadership drives educational campaigns, organizes impactful events, and forges partnerships that enhance community awareness and prevention efforts.

Where State Chairs Fit in the Structure

The Elks Drug Awareness Program operates through a tiered leadership system to ensure a broad and effective reach:

  • National Directors – Provide strategic oversight, develop national initiatives, and support all leadership levels.
  • State Chairs – Oversee the program at the state level, working closely with District Chairs and local communities.
  • District Chairs – Facilitate communication and program implementation between State Chairs and Lodge Chairs.
  • Lodge Chairs – Manage program activities at the local lodge level, coordinating outreach efforts in their communities.
  • Ambassadors – Serve as public-facing representatives, spreading awareness and engaging in outreach efforts.

State Chairs are leaders and coordinators, ensuring that all levels below them have the guidance, resources, and direction needed to maximize impact.
