DXM

This fact sheet explains the dangers of misusing dextromethorphan (DXM), an ingredient found in many over-the-counter cough medications. While safe when used as directed, high doses can cause hallucinations, psychological dependence, and even death-especially when combined with alcohol or other drugs. Distributed by the DEA and Elks Drug Awareness Program, it raises awareness of warning signs and misuse trends among teens.
